Polyamide fibre that absorbs moisture and holds onto coarser dirt. Stays at 7 mm and is the only range also available in red. From €16.12.
The range for vinyl and poured floors: the backing contains no plasticisers, so no rings or discolouration. At around 4 mm, also the lowest of the three. Can be washed, preferably by hand. From €13.87.
A moisture-absorbing doormat works like a sponge. Where a dirt-scraping doormat scrapes the sand and coarser dirt out of the tread of your sole, a moisture-absorbing doormat instead soaks up the moisture and fine dust still left on your shoes afterwards. That's exactly what you want indoors: no wet footprints through the hall, no rings on the floor.
We cut that doormat to your dimensions. That makes the difference in spots where a standard size doesn't fit — a doormat recess in the floor, a wide entrance, a narrow hallway or the space between two doors. A doormat that fills the full width catches all the foot traffic; a doormat that's too small lets half the moisture through.
All ranges have an anti-slip backing, so the doormat stays in place without an underlay, and they have a low build — around 4 to 7 mm in use, so the door can almost always swing over it and the heat from underfloor heating comes through well. They're intended for indoor use: under a canopy or in a porch is fine, but in wind and weather the fibre no longer dries out.
Four steps from measurement to a doormat that fits perfectly.
Premium for the most moisture absorption, Deluxe if coarser dirt comes in too, plasticiser-free if you have a vinyl or poured floor. Not sure about the colour? Click Shop colour samples for that range.
Measure the width and length of the spot where the doormat will lie and use the smallest measurement. Measuring a doormat recess? Subtract a few millimetres on every side.
On the product page, enter the length and width. The price adjusts to your dimensions immediately — so you see straight away what you'll pay.
We cut your doormat on our own machine and ship it to you within 1–3 working days.
The three ranges side by side. Note the difference between the stated and the actual height: for the cotton ranges, the stated size is measured with the fibres standing upright. In use those fibres lie flat, so the doormat ends up lower in practice. If you have a vinyl or poured floor, the choice is quickly made anyway.

A moisture-absorbing doormat soaks up moisture with soft fibres; a dirt-scraping doormat has stiffer fibres that pull sand and coarser dirt out of the tread of your sole. If you really want to do it properly, lay them one after another: dirt-scraping at the door first, then moisture-absorbing further inside.
| Custom-size moisture-absorbing doormat | Custom-size dirt-scraping doormat | |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | Absorb moisture and fine dust | Scrape sand and coarser dirt out of the tread |
| Fibre | Soft cotton or polyamide fibre | Stiffer polyamide or polypropylene fibre |
| Best spot | Right inside, in the hall or entrance | At the entrance, where most dirt comes in |
| Foot traffic | Home and quiet entrance | Busy entrance, shop or business premises |
| Maintenance | Vacuuming, most ranges washable | Vacuuming or beating out, usually not washable |
| Using them together | Place the moisture-absorbing doormat second, further inside | Place the dirt-scraping doormat first, at the door |

It's in the fibre. A moisture-absorbing doormat has soft, absorbent fibres that soak up moisture and fine dust — think of it as a towel under your soles. A dirt-scraping doormat has stiffer fibres that scrape sand and coarser dirt out of the tread of your sole. Both do a bit of the other's job too, but each excels in its own area. In a home, a moisture-absorbing doormat is usually enough; at a busy entrance, lay them one after another: dirt-scraping at the door, moisture-absorbing half a metre further inside.
Premium absorbs the most moisture and is the logical choice for a regular home. Deluxe has a polyamide fibre that holds onto coarser dirt as well as moisture, handy at a busy entrance. Choose plasticiser-free if you have a vinyl or poured floor: that backing contains no plasticisers, so it won't cause discolouration.
Only the plasticiser-free range. The backings of Premium and Deluxe contain plasticisers, and on vinyl and poured floors these can eventually leave discolouration where the doormat lies. If you have that kind of floor, choose the plasticiser-free version — every product lists under its specifications whether it's suitable.
The thinner the doormat, the less it insulates and the better the heat comes through. Our moisture-absorbing doormats have a low build and are therefore perfectly suited to underfloor heating; a 17 mm coir mat insulates considerably more and can leave a noticeably colder spot above the mat. If you have underfloor heating combined with a vinyl or poured floor, choose the plasticiser-free range — heat can speed up the reaction between plasticisers and the floor.
Yes, all three ranges can be washed. Premium and Deluxe can simply go in the machine. We recommend washing the plasticiser-free range by hand — that's gentler on the plasticiser-free backing, which is precisely what makes it possible to put the doormat on a vinyl or poured floor. Afterwards, always let the doormat dry lying flat and don't use a tumble dryer. Some fluff may come loose after the first wash; just vacuum it off. It's also worth noting: regular vacuuming matters more than washing, since sand between the fibres wears the doormat out from the inside.
No, these doormats are for indoor use. The fibre absorbs moisture and doesn't dry out properly in the open air, which makes the doormat start to smell and the backing come loose. Looking for a doormat for outside the door? Take a look at our coir mats or brush mats.
Measure the spot at two points across the width and two points along the length, and use the smallest measurement. Placing the doormat in a doormat recess? Measure the inside and subtract a few millimetres on each side, so the doormat fits in easily and doesn't buckle. Also check that your door can still swing freely over the doormat.
Yes. All ranges have an anti-slip backing that gives enough grip on a smooth floor. Want extra security — for example on a smooth tiled floor, with a large size, or in a spot with a lot of turning traffic — then you can order an anti-slip mat to go with it. On high-pile carpet we always recommend one.
Almost always. Do note the difference between the stated and the actual height: for the cotton ranges, the stated size is measured with the fibres standing upright, while in use they lie flat. As a result, the 9 mm Premium works out at around 6 mm in practice, and the 6 mm plasticiser-free version at around 4 mm. Deluxe has a stiffer polyamide fibre and keeps its 7 mm. If your door sits tight above the floor, the plasticiser-free range is the safest choice.
Regular vacuuming is the most important thing: sand that stays trapped between the fibres wears the doormat out from the inside. Premium and Deluxe can also be washed at 30 °C. Just let wet patches dry out; the fibre releases the moisture by itself.

No. A custom-size doormat is cut specially for you and is therefore excluded from the right of withdrawal — we can't sell it to anyone else. That's why we recommend ordering a colour sample first and carefully double-checking your measurements. Is something wrong with your order, or did the doormat arrive damaged? Get in touch and we'll sort it out.
Your doormat is cut specially for you. It's usually with you within 1–3 working days. If you order several doormats or an extra-large size, it may take a day longer — you'll always get a track-and-trace code as soon as your parcel is on its way.
