Outdoor doormat made to measure
Custom-size outdoor doormat — keeps the worst dirt outside
An outdoor doormat has to deal with rain, sand and mud. These mats don't absorb it — they simply let the water drain straight through and hold the dirt at the bottom. We cut them exactly to your size, including for a porch or doormat recess.

Choose your custom-size outdoor doormat
One scrapes dirt off your soles, the other traps sand in open loops. Both let water through, and we cut each one exactly to your size.
Traffic — scrapes and lets water through
A sturdy dirt-scraping doormat made from 100% polypropylene with an open structure: rain drains straight through and the worst dirt stays behind. The latex backing grips tiles, wood or stone, so the mat doesn't slip. 12 mm, from €14.32.
Custom-size outdoor doormat Traffic - Grey - 12mm
Spaghetti mat — open loops that hold onto sand
A net of interwoven loops. Sand and grit fall between the loops and disappear out of sight, while water runs straight through. Cleaning is simply a matter of turning it over and beating it out. 12 mm, from €38.45.

What exactly does an outdoor doormat do?
An outdoor doormat is the first of two steps. It handles the rough work — mud, sand, grit and leaves — and removes most of the water from your soles before you even open the door. Anything it stops doesn't need cleaning up indoors.
That's why an outdoor doormat is built very differently from a doormat for indoors. A doormat for indoors absorbs moisture; an outdoor doormat needs to get rid of it. Rain drains straight through and runs away underneath, so no puddle is left sitting on top to freeze in winter. The dirt sinks to the bottom of the mat and stays there until you turn it over and beat it out.
Why custom size? Because entrances are rarely 40 x 60 cm. A porch, a veranda, a doormat recess or a double front door calls for a different size than what's in the shop. A mat that's too small leaves a strip of floor unprotected — exactly the strip everyone steps over. A mat that's too big curls up and becomes a trip hazard. We cut to the millimetre, so your mat fits from wall to wall.
Add a moisture-absorbing doormat behind the door as well, and your entrance is complete: scrape outside, dry inside.
How to order your custom-size mat
Four steps from measurement to a mat that fits perfectly.
Choose scraping or trapping sand
Is the mat going on a driveway, veranda or business entrance where mostly mud and leaves come in? Choose Traffic. Is it mainly sand and grit coming in, from a beach, garden path or gravel path? Then the spaghetti mat catches that better.
Measure your space
Measure the width and length of the spot where the mat will go, and use the smallest measurement. Measuring a recess or doormat recess? Subtract a few millimetres on every side. Mind the maximum width: Traffic goes up to 200 cm, the spaghetti mat up to 120 cm. There's no limit on the length.
Enter your measurements
On the product page, enter your length and width. The price updates instantly to match your size — so you see straight away what you'll pay.
We cut and ship
We cut your mat on our own machine and ship it to you within 1–3 working days.

Both are water-permeable and 12 mm high. The difference is in what they do with the dirt.

What exactly does an outdoor doormat do?
An outdoor doormat is the first of two steps. It handles the rough work: mud, sand, grit and leaves, plus most of the water coming off your shoes. For that it needs an open structure, so rain drains away and dirt disappears into the bottom of the mat instead of sticking to your soles. The fine remainder — the moisture that's still left — should be caught indoors by a moisture-absorbing doormat.
What's the difference between Traffic and the spaghetti mat?
Traffic has a dense, rough scraper structure that scrapes dirt off your soles; choose this one for mud, leaves and wet shoes. The spaghetti mat is a net of loose loops that sand and grit fall through and disappear out of sight; choose this one for a gravel path, a garden path or a house by the sea. Both let water pass straight through and are 12 mm high.
Can the mat stay outside all year round?
Yes. Both series are made for uncovered spots: they let water pass through instead of absorbing it, so no moisture is left sitting in the mat that could freeze or start to rot. If snow settles on it, just brush it off — a mat buried under a layer of snow simply can't scrape anything.
Does the mat stay in place without an underlay?
Traffic has a latex anti-slip backing and simply stays put on tiles, wood or stone. The spaghetti mat is heavy enough, thanks to its mass, to stay where it lies. On a smooth, wet surface, a mat that fits exactly into a recess or doormat recess is always the most stable — that's exactly what custom size is for.
How do I measure my outdoor doormat correctly?
Measure the spot at two points across the width and two points along the length, and use the smallest measurement. Placing the mat in a recess or doormat recess? Measure the inside and subtract a few millimetres from each side, so the mat fits in smoothly without buckling. Also check that your door can still swing freely over the mat.
How wide can my mat be at most?
We cut Traffic up to 200 cm wide, and the spaghetti mat up to 120 cm. There's no limit on the length, so a narrow three-metre runner is no problem. Is your entrance wider than the maximum for the series you want? Just call or email us, and we'll work out what's possible together.
How do I clean an outdoor doormat?
Beating it out is usually enough: turn the mat over, knock the sand out and put it back. If it's really dirty, hose it down with the garden hose and let it dry lying flat. We wouldn't use a pressure washer on the mat — it can damage the fibres or the loops.
Can the mat go in the washing machine?
No. Both series are too coarse and too heavy for a washing machine, and it's not necessary anyway: they don't absorb moisture, so dirt sits loose in the mat and simply rinses or knocks back out again.
Do I still need a mat indoors as well?
Yes, that works best. An outdoor doormat removes the worst of the dirt and most of the water, but a shoe that's stood on an outdoor doormat still isn't dry. A moisture-absorbing doormat right behind the door catches that last bit of moisture. Two mats one after the other keep out far more than a single heavy-duty outdoor doormat.
Can I receive a colour sample first?
Yes, for Traffic: click Shop colour samples on that series. For €5 we'll send you a 10 x 15 cm sample, so you can judge the colour and structure at home. We currently have no samples for the spaghetti mat.
Are these doormats also suitable for business use?
Traffic is the most suitable for that: it's made for heavy foot traffic and is widely used at business entrances, balconies, verandas and driveways. For an entrance where people are coming and going all day, it's a good idea to also place a heavy-duty dirt-scraping doormat indoors behind the door.
Can I put this doormat on a PVC or poured floor?
These two series are meant for outdoor use, so that question doesn't really apply here. If you're looking for a doormat that's safe for a PVC, vinyl or poured floor, take a look at our plasticiser-free doormats — they have a backing without plasticisers and don't leave marks.
Can I return a custom-size mat?
No. A custom-size mat is cut specially for you, which excludes it from the right of withdrawal — we can't sell it to anyone else. That's why we recommend ordering a colour sample first and carefully re-measuring your dimensions. You can, of course, return the standard-size outdoor doormats as normal. Is something wrong with your order, or did the mat arrive damaged? Just get in touch and we'll sort it out.
What is the delivery time?
Your mat is cut specially for you. It's usually with you within 1–3 working days. If you order several mats or an extra-large size, it may take a day longer — you'll always get a track-and-trace code as soon as your parcel is on its way.
